Alexion PAC

About AlexionPAC

What is the PAC?

A PAC, or a “political action committee,” allows groups of people with common interests to come together with a unified voice and to be a reliable source of information on issues being debated and decided by Congress. Alexion PAC provides an avenue for eligible employees to voluntarily pool their resources to support candidates for federal office who share the values and ideals of our company, employees, and communities.

A PAC is a key advocacy resource to facilitate employee engagement in the policymaking and political process, further our goals as a company, and advance the interests of our patients, employees, and other stakeholders. Alexion PAC will be focused on what unites us as employees: working to change lives for the better – ours, people affected by rare diseases, and the communities we serve. Alexion is committed to building a transparent and compliant political program that advances Alexion’s strategic goals and reinforces our mission, culture, and values.
Yes. PAC operations are transparent and compliant with all applicable laws. Because they are regulated by the Federal Election Commission, PACs are considered the most transparent form of political involvement. As required by law, PAC activity is reported on a monthly basis and publicly disclosed on the FEC website, www.FEC.gov.
Alexion’s PAC is non-partisan and decisions to support candidates are made independent of party affiliation. We have specific criteria to determine which candidates receive support from the PAC, including:
  • General alignment with Alexion’s business philosophy and culture,
  • Alexion presence in a candidate’s state or congressional district,
  • Role on relevant congressional committees or leadership positions,
  • Electability including candidate’s character and/or reputation,
  • The interests of our patients, employees, shareholders, and other stakeholders.
The PAC is governed by the Alexion PAC Board which adheres to a set of bylaws that dictate how the PAC Board operates.
All contributions made and received by Alexion PAC are publicly disclosed in reports filed with the U.S. Federal Election Commission, which may be viewed on the U.S. Federal Election Commission's website at www.fec.gov
Alexion employees who are both (1) United States citizens or legal residents of the United States possessing a green card; and (2) Executive or administrative personnel who are paid on a salary basis and who have policymaking, managerial, professional, or supervisory responsibilities. All contributions are strictly voluntary and must come from employees’ personal financial accounts. Contributions to the PAC are used in connection with federal elections. Contributions are not deductible for federal income tax purposes.
Every dollar – 100% - of your PAC contribution goes to support federal and state candidates for office. The costs of operating and administering the PAC are paid separately by Alexion.
Contributions to the PAC are strictly voluntary. Your decision to join the PAC has absolutely no effect on your status within the company.
Federal law requires the PAC to use its best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and employer of persons who contribute in excess of $200 per calendar year.
